When Medical Administration applications run, and what the round looks like.

Application Period 1 opens 28 July, with no surcharge.
Requires a minimum of 3 years full-time clinical experience involving direct patient care before entry, typically PGY4 or later. Medical administrative experience is explicitly excluded from that count, which matters here because most applicants are already working in administration. RACMA publishes no scored CV or preference criteria beyond this eligibility gate. Entry additionally requires securing an accredited (or provisionally accredited) training post.

Every eligible applicant was selected in the published 2026 Queensland round, 12 of 12. That is the only specialty in the Queensland source where the intake matched the eligible pool exactly
Queensland records 80 trainees against 100 specialists, a far higher trainee-to-specialist ratio than any clinical specialty here, reflecting that most trainees are already practising doctors adding a second qualification

Medical administrative experience does not count toward the three years of clinical experience. An applicant holding only specialist registration has to change their scope of practice before commencing.
