Where the data comes from

Made by doctors, for doctors. Every figure on this site traces back to something you can open and read yourself.

We tell you when we are guessing

12 colleges publish an actual point table, and those calculators use the exact values. Most colleges publish no points at all, only selection statements and guidelines describing what they are looking for. We read those documents and turn them into criteria that can be scored consistently, so your portfolio can be measured against them. Where the weighting is ours rather than the college’s, the calculator says so on screen, every time.

How each specialty calculator is scored

College point table12The college publishes the points. We use their exact values.
Published criteria, our weighting75The college publishes statements and guidelines but no points. We convert them into scoreable criteria and label the result indicative.

You only ever need the one for your specialty, not all 87.

Straight from the colleges

Selection criteria, scoring tables and intake figures come from the colleges’ own published documents and from government recruitment processes. All 87 calculators name the document they were built from.

Peer reviewed

Selection rules change every year. If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, send it in with the source and we will review it and update the site. This is a community of doctors keeping it right for one another.
